About the Position: The Training and Livelihoods Expert under the general supervision of the Lead Expert will be primarily the first point of contact for Livelihood Restoration activities in the Mwache Multipurpose dam Project RAP Implementation. Below is a list of some of the general duties and responsibilities to be carried out as needed according to the determination of the Lead Expert as guided within the framework of the RAP Implementation Contractual obligation;
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead in all livelihood related activities including designing and ensuring successful delivery of livelihood training.
Lead in the development, and implementation of the individual and Community Livelihood Plans (IRP/CLPs), and CLPs are requested by PAPs who may be resettled together/ in close neighbourhood or as determined by the project in consultation with the PAPs and the Host Communities including where needed to maintain or restore access to natural resources.
Monitoring of livelihood restoration. Includes affirmative action plans for vulnerable and disadvantaged households with special focus on widowed and child headed household.
Ensure engagement with other development partners and government agencies to supplement livelihood restoration efforts.
Facilitate using the community project cycle (CPC) an engagement process to enable each affected village to prepare and prioritize community infrastructure and support projects as outlined RAP section 10.3.9.
Develop and implement training needs assessment and training manuals for livelihoods.
Review and develop LRP modes and prepare emergency and contingency plans for PAPs and host community e.g. drought, mitigation flood and relief distribution.
Organization and coordination of field activities. These will include meetings with PAPs and project partners and being in the field to supervise field related Livelihood activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Over 7 years’ experience in livelihood enhancement/ Restoration programs
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, and multi- cultural environment
Have a minimum of 5 years working experience with vulnerable people, especially elderly, children and people living with disabilities
Must be committed to working with PAPs in poor set ups.
Must have experience working with PAPs in rural communities.
Must have good training and presentation skills.
Must be conversant with social protection policies.
